A 'Lucky" Break.

Just had to replace a cracked front windscreen on my car. It was a 'lucky break' as upon removing the old screen we found significant rust behind it. So now the car is off to the panel shop for repair before fitting a new screen.

Just curious as to how much a rust repair around the windscreen would cost?? Can you let us know once its done please?

Here are the pics. Bit worse then I initially thought we found penetration into the roof lip at one spot. Last windscreen replacement was about 3 yrs ago and everything was fine then. We think a badly done job last time allowed water to get in there.

they must have broke through the paint when they scraped off the bonding sealer on a previous screen change

Yep, I'm seriously pissed about it, apart from the cost and the inconvenience my car has up till now remained rust free, I know the body shop will do a good repair but it's never the same again.

**** thats bad. Makes me worry now as I had a new screen 2 years ago and that guy was rough with the tool when scrapping out the old sealer.

Yeah, well like I said about 3 yrs ago, maybe a bit less, fitted new screen and there was no rust, at all. Now look at it.

Cost for body shop repair was $280.. He's done lots of work for me before and it was a cash job so maybe saved a bit there. He's done the best he can with sealer and 2 pack but said it had started to travel under roof line.
I'm going to be really upset if I loose my Micra to tinworm as I had no plans to get rid of it, had it since new and it's been so good and reliable. ;-(
