As suspected, one arm off the linkage. One of those clips should do it for a while. Even with the wipers taken off the intermittent still isn't returning as it should. I can hear a click - relay???

Is there an easy way to separate glass from body? I have read about the oven method. Is it recommended? Or would it be better to drain and seal around the seam without disassembling?

SOLVED :D I removed the cowling around the steering wheel and removed the stalk. Opened it up and found residue inside which was obviously interfering with the contacts. Cleaned with alcohol (drank the rest :p) and hey presto, working headlights........................
