Which is the aircon compressor? In the engine bay driven by the belt? For an aircon-delete, is it simply the case to remove the compressor and get a new aux belt for cars that didn't come without aircon?

Nope. It's almost like the switch isn't connected to anything. Might be a bust relay?

If the timing isn't right, then it won't idle properly. How badly it idles will depend on how far the timing is out.

My K11 has aircon, but it doesn't work. Pressing the button on the dash, it goes in and out as normal, but never lights up and no cooling effect. Fuse is good, swapped it with a known good one. Where's the next place to start looking?

Plugs turned out to be a nightmare to change - I had noticed it was missing a bit on the drive home, found the culprit! Also, started to strip the back out, there's a fair amount of human slime - also the spare wheel well showed signs it has been a bit damp at some point and lots of surface...

On a light car they should be fine. I'd say half the towstraps I've ever seen used have snapped under load when pulling a car out of gravel.
