if a bulb connector is stuck to the bulb, i usually take it out from the clip holding the bulb in and then working with the bulb and holder coz more space and easier to pull free
depends if the nut is facing up towards you or underneath where you cant see.....frank if it is not visable from uptop then it is clockwise but i cant remember if the nut is right infront so yeh back to barcelona match lol
what are you using to undo it? it is anti-clockwise..spray penetrate fluid on the threads and nut and if your using a spanner then maybe use a hammer to loosen it....last option is to grind it off

i have the same problem which the noise......gonna change ma clutch when i get a day to maself. WORST case it can be the mainshaft bearing in the gearbox
if its too noisy it could fail on noise, but main thing is emissions. if it meets the criteria then its fine. smoke shouldnt be a reason for failure ASLONG as emissions are fine unless its blowing a hell of alot of smoke
