(SOLVED) DIY gone wrong, no 12V to Head Unit :(

so yesterday i was adding a couple of switches and a secondary accessory outlet to my micra (1.5D K11 second facelift) , i decided to tap the 12v from the stereo leads instead of the existing accessory outlet as i wasn't going to hook up any high amp devices (just a bluetooth receiver & phone charger) and it was more accessible. this worked nicely for a moment.

However one of the connectors going to the switches must've gotten loose & probably caused a short. causing my stereo Head Unit to no longer function & the (constant) 12v lead on the stereo Head Unit cabling to no longer give any power. (tested with a multimeter).

also my Dashboard clock reset to 0:00.

TLDR:
DIY gone wrong, probably caused a short,
no longer 12V on stereo Head Unit leads.

Any advice on where to look & how to fix it ?

Get a Haynes manual, study the electrical circuit diagrams in same, then trace the fault using a multi meter.......simples

While Haynes manuals are at times a 'bit basic' at least they give you a starting point on most jobs and the circuit diagrams are very useful.....
There are a couple on eBay (assuming yours is a K11) for a fiver.......see HERE...
thanks for trying to help me get a bargain :D

unfortunately i probably also should've mentioned i'm from Belgium
and when i add the shipping cost that one's only £1.5 cheaper than buying a new one from amazon.
but i really appreciate the effort tho :)

quick question, i've ordered the manual however it says it only covers the petrol versions,
ofcoarse this probably doesn't matter when it comes to the electronics,
but is there also one of these books available for the diesel versions ?
or was that just a too niche of a market to print ?

Haynes don't appear to do one for the diesel K11, though as you say, the electrical systems, other than engine control, should be the same for both petrol and diesel models....

Check the fuses. And how did you wire it in? Did you use the proper earth and not the ilumination wire? The ilymination wire is a earth untill you switch on the lights then it’s 12v

the ground goes to the same nut my radio ground goes to (see black wire below), the 12V constant i had it hooked up to was spliced from the radio Head Unit's constant 12V (yellow lead on the ISO adapter)

ps:
turns out that goes to the "interior lights" fuse.
replacing the affected fuse fixed it:D
