Wouldn't start

No sooner is it sorted before there's something else wrong!

I went to start it up from cold before and it sort of started and then stopped straight away. After that it wouldn't start at all without a bit of help from my right foot. I turned the engine off and started it when it had warmed up and it started first time (although it did seem hesitate for a second before starting).

Malfunction indicator came on the other day with this code:
P0171
System too lean bank 1

Idles fine when cold, a bit rough when warm. Otherwise runs smoothly.

It's a 2000 1.0.

Any suggestions?
Cheers.

Well, the car has started first time every time since this happened. Hopefully it was a one off. Is there something that could have caused this to happen just once?
