Won't rev, will idle....

Had a prob coming down the freeway, motor started to cut out and back in, ended up crawling back home with intermittent power. It's given me the impression of fuel starvation.
Starts up cold and runs fine, take it for a short run and it does the same.
Pulled the fuel line off the 'out' side of the small fuel filter and the pump is giving good pressure. Will be changing the filter for good measure anyway.
Any common ailments or places in the injector body that collect debris in the fuel?
Dizzy cap and arm show no signs of tracking or breakdown, all the leads look good, nothing obvious to the naked eye.
Any help appreciated!

Crank angle sensor might be shot and when hot it starts breaking down. Pour water on the sensor and take it for a drive straight away if its better then its that the prob will come back when it heats up.

Could be throttle body it self stuffed. Could also be a intermittent fuel pump problem.

Does not sound like Clutch at all. Its not that the car is revving from what i read. Its that its having problems reving which would in no way be related to the clutch.

Thanks for the replies, will try the crank sensor trick.
Changed the fuel filter and in the first instance it seemed better, let it warm up and took it for a run. Started to misfire after a short distance and then cleared up. Didn't travel too far away from home so it's not had a really good run. Will give it a longer run when the trafic had died down this PM.

Yep, could be a blockage in the tank. I tried it again but it's up to the same tricks.
I did notce a bit of a fumnny smell like stale petrol, don't know if that's symptomatic of a blocked pump. I thought maybe old crap in the tank may be responsible for the smell.
I've been regularly running the tank low and refilling it, so I'd be surprised if there's anything stale left in there, but you never know!
Very much like fuel starvation though, I'll scratch around a little longer but it may have to go to an injection specialist, sob sob...
