Hey all. Noone was using the old's patrol yesterday so I grabbed a mate and we went 4x4'ing!

I had an absolute blast! I think he did too. 4x4ing is ALOT of fun. Patrol is totally standard and running highway terrain tyres (useless offroad) but they coped alright with the sand when they were deflated down to 25psi haha. Patrol made minemeat of the terrain despite its low clearance and road biased tyres. Point and fire was the word. Sand driving is immense fun. You dont actually have any directional control of the vehicle you've got to rocket along these tight soft sandy tracks at 50km/hr and hope the last guy who went through did it OK as he would have made the tracks you're following.

Lots of wheel flicking, big ruts and stuff. Very rough ride. Patrol handled it amazingly well. These things are really in their element when you're doing this sort of stuff with them. They're just built so friggen strong.

Beach driving is awesome too. So smooth and relaxing. Again patrol made mincemeat of ploughing through the soft stuff. Hiluxes and new IFS landcruisers eat your hearts out this is now patrol and old landcruiser territory.

Wish I had pics of the patrol going airborne twice in row at 50km/hr on the beach. Lol went through the soft stuff to go around some dumb beachgoers and didnt see the terrain. When I saw it I knew and just held, front end just went into the sky and the rear soon followed. Had awesome airtime and there was a bunch of hilux bogans watching no doubt having a geat time seeing the patrol get serious air.

Wheel alignment isnt out either ahaha

If only the patrols were a bit shorter and still came in short wheelbase form here in australia... So many things you can do which arent possible in a normal car.

Anyway im babbling now. :p Here are some pics.

Navigating down onto the beach. Suspension showing a little bit of flex.

Showing a bit of flex heading down onto the beach. That sand was very soft despite it being wet, moments after that photo there was lots of flying wet sand haha.
