can anyone help my car failed on a cross member today does anyone know if they are welded on or just bolted?

Spot welded buddy.
Most would weld the crossmember as a repair. If not feasible, then its replaced.
Plenty of info on here about doing the job, looks a bit of a bitch to do though.
Get a new on ebay for £25.
