Trouble refitting brake drums

Hello I'm new here (please let me know if I'm using the forum wrong), I'm having a little trouble I'm hoping someone could help me with. I tried searching the forum but found no solution. First time doing rear brakes. I got new wheel cylinders and shoes for both sides. However when I came to refit the drums they wouldn't seat properly.

The adjuster was fully unwound, and I tried vertically aligning the shoes.

My theory is that the leading shoe can't vertically centre because it is fowling against the backplate:

The brake shoes I purchased:

I tried searching for reference photos and came across this post by pollyp with a picture showing a different brake shoe design:

The gap is also present on the old brake shoes in this picture I took before removing them:

Am I missing something here? some advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Just fitted some new ones, it worked! The dopamine hit I got from spinnin that drum felt goood when i refit it! I will have to keep that possibility in mind in future, the possibility of the product being wrong didn't occur to me at all. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction : )
