This advert makes me cross

Just wondering - does anyone else REALLY REALLY HATE the new Davidoff Adventure advert with Ewan McGregor being exquisitely crappy?! grr I confess I'm especially gutted because I always thought he had some integrity.

Are there any other adverts where you feel cross because a favourite star has clearly sold out to commercialism???

*breathes deeply*

I'm ok now. :grinning:

the adverts that really wind me up are the ones with Carol Voordeman, you know the ones that advertise companies that 'consolidate your debts' usually at a phenomenal interest rate of around 30 - 35%apr, of course in the adverts they usually say from 9% typical or something until you put your details in then it rockets, shes a maths genius so must be able to work out they are a parasitic rip off feeding on the poor, she is supposed to be in the top 10 richest women in the country or something so doesnt need the money from these adverts, and she comes from a very poor background, now thats a sell out.

they're an actor?

They're acting in a commercial?

What's the problem? It's their job, they can't pick and choose, money is money.

Ewan McGregor is absolutely minted mate, he can pick and choose what adverts he does.

but regardless of what money you have. If somebody said

"I'll give you £50k to act for an hour"

how many people would say no? It's a bit like overtime imo, or maybe they just enjoy it?

All of them....totally unessesary. If you like/need something then buy it but i wont be swayed by actor/s or in fact anyone famous. I used to buy football shirts but i stopped because they kept changing the pattern/sponsers every year. best shirt i´ve got is one that is signed by the whole of the Arsenal team including Tierry henry

Agreed with sonic, those debt consolidation ones nark me off too (it doesn't take a lot!)

"the scent of adventure" does somewhat trivialise his journey, what a mug.

the last thing Mr McGregor is going to smell of after a 2000 mile ride in full leathers at 30 degrees is Davidoff, anyone got a can of lynx ?

hahaha, the chocolate man in the lynx advert gets me..... not ewen "obi-wan" mcgregor

the adverts that pee me right off are all these "car insurance comparisons" adverts, its very single advert sometimes.

and those at arround 9.pm, "txt this number at £9 a txt to get pictures of a girl tha looks nothing like the one your speaking to, and she gets about £2 an hour"

it winds me up...

Haha Sawyer off Lost is much better in the davidoff ads

Notice how the crunchie ad is back with the chocolate people after lynx's new one hmm?

I love that lynx ad!

The ones that annoy me are 'I slipped over a piece of paper someone left on the floor without warning signs, and I got loads of money. If you don't look where you are going please call this number' argh!!!!

Och aye, it's true! There are a massive number of stupid adverts out there! *lol* I didn't think I need mention the finance adverts though - after all, EVERYONE hates them, right!!!???

Darling, if you can't say something b*tchy, don't say anything at all :grinning: Take your generosity somewhere else! *lol*

iv not seen the davidoff advert but one that irritates me (apart from the usual finance, singysongy BS ones including that halifax one with the chinese fella singing about the account) is quaker oats. now, forgive me for saying this and being picky but... they state 'quaker oats can keep you going for ABOUT (key word) 4 hours and 21 minutes', Now im sorry but you cannot have ABOUT 4hrs 21 mins. you can have over 4 hours, or about 4 hours, but you cannot use about, as a general estimate, of a precise time.

yes you can... as it could be 4 hrs 22 minutes or 4 hrs 20 minutes... on average..

and anyway...

what time would it be after 4 hrs 21 minutes from eating breakfast at lets say 8.00am?

12.21pm.........21 minutes after you started your lunch...hahaha
