The Great Big Charger Debate!

Shaun

***StaGGeRed***
Seeing as 2011 is the Year of the Turbo Micra and everyone is getting on the B.O.V train i would just like to see what peoples views are against the 3 options that everyone has depending on their budget.

1. The Screamer (tuned up without Forced induction possibly include bike carbs, engine mods)

2. The Turbo (be it T25, T2 whatever)

3. The Supercharger (why are there not more?)

What i would really like to see is collectively debating what is best, or rather what is best for you? cost wise, ease of setup, parts available because so much forced induction is going around i know i am not the only one to be thinking of this.
Don't Forget Your Dyno Results if you try and claim an outrageous HP figure!

I've always liked superchargers Shaun. I know turbos are cool but they've always seemed a bit of a crude solution to me, don't really know why . I like the simplicity of a supercharger, bolt it on, add belt, remap and off you go (I know it's not that simple :p).

Depends what you're looking for. The supercharger will provide more low down grunt, where as the turbo and carbs will produce the goods higher up the rev range.

I personally would go for bike carbs, lightened fly wheel, intake, exhaust, pistons, high lift cams, titanium valves and double valve springs. Would be a proper screamer.

yeah insurance would probably kill you but we should put that aside seeing as it's different for everyone, depending on location aswell as age. plus there are some and i use that term loosely some specialist insurers that allow modding.

insurance aside then, the turbo or vortech type s/c (ie, non positive displacement) are more versatile eh, (you can run various levels of boost)
but apart from scopez,s GA, boosted k11,s seem to be very troublesome fwn

Yeah i have noticed... which is why it is bothering me that everyone is going down the charged route. if it still isn't 100% worked out.

I just cant see how a supercharger is a simple bolt on, belt on, remap and off you go, any forced micra needs some fabricating of some sort

ALSO! id like to know all these failed turbo micras that have been remapped please?

I was generalising Stani. I know it's a LOT more complicated than that :grinning:.

and N/A screamers are,nt really suitable for a daily driver, a lack of grunt and a peaky engine is a pita for urban driving believe me fwn high compression, big t/b, injectors to suit and an aggressive inlet cam ftw

Im not saying failed. i am saying not 100% worked out. it seems like the job never gets finished or something goes wrong. :( or an engine blows up! :wasntme:
