temperature gauge

My friend has a 98 micra and the temperature gauge goes straight to hot when you turn on the ignition.The temperature control switch has been changed but still has the same problem.Is there anything else we should be looking at.

sounds like a dead short rich, you will probably need to trace the signal wire back to see if its earthing/shorting out

did you change the 1 wire sensor or the 2 wire one mate ?

it was a 2 wire plug connection

that,s the ecu one eh, the gauge one is the 1 wire jobbie

forgove my ignorance but the switch just behind the distributor was the one i changed

yes, below and behind the dizzy rich, 2 sensors close together

does the gauge stay on cold if you remove the 1 wire connector ?
