tb upper connector discoonected

Hi

Anyone know what the upper connector on the t/b does , mine was not connected ???? but it appears to be the air mass meter

just plugged it back on .and the engine would not run ???
the car runs fine without it connected .

so I had a look my older micra and it had a t/b with a metal square box on the side and was all plugged up . the t/b in question seems to be a bosch unit .
both cars are a 1 litre with mine being one of the last to be made in 2000 with spark plug packs as opposed to the older car with its dizzy

update ..

double fault , just found the engine check light is bust as well , so now I have a disconncted AMF and a glowing check light !!!

so the car has been in limp home mode since I bought it !!!!!

the later bosch t/b,s have a removable maf mike (£40 on e-bay iirc)

thats handy to know , can I just fit a new MAF , or does it need calibrating ?

just plug-n-play i think mike, you need a mad 5 sided key tho iirc
