had to fix the tailgate wiring today on one of the Micra's .
The wiper had stopped working as well as the number plate lights . Confirmed it was the wires by opening the tailgate and wiggling the wires , which caused the wiper to work .
The wires are located on the right hand side of the car , left hand side is the washer tube .
To help get some slack to work with , remove the tailgate hatch and undo the 2 plugs which the wires hook up to , tie some string round the plugs and then undo the rubber wire feeder from the body work and expose the wires by sliding it towards the tailgate , use the slack .
This will expose the broken wires and allow you to slice and solder in some new wire , cover new wire with heatshrink to finsh .Then rebundule the wires with fresh tape and feed back into the rubber feeder , pull slack back into hatch by using the string and do everything up !!!
I did find the wire insulation had gone hard and cracked , it was at the cracks that the wire had bent and broke
