skyline calipers

oops sorry, could have sworn that i put it in k11?

i was just wondering, i like over kill..
im looking at a garret T25 turbo at the mo... its a brand new one, and has been fully rebuilt as its been sitting on a shelf for 8 years.... £200 lol
i have an intercooler from a scrap yard, and im after some 1600 nissan injectors.... i know the guy at my local superchips garage.....i can make my own modified sump, (for oil) and i think i may have found some enkei JDM spec wheels....

so i like over kill.... and skyline brakes on a micra is pure "magazine feature" over kill...lol:suspect:

ps i have allways wanted a turbocharged car...even if its not that quick, just hearing a turbo spool up and having a chirrup valve on the wastegate like the old escort cossies is my goal...
and to have a car that is as quick as my 309 gti was....that would be enough

i am seriously after a turbo setup and would apprieciate any help you may have to offer, such as anyone have a manifold for sale?.... anyone know of any technical drawings for the piping and cooling ??? and i need as many pics as possible of turbo k11's.

PLEASE thank you

i can c his point... i would rather stop in a hurry then go thru a lampost... but skyline brakes r way to over kill... just go for the gtir ones

Skyline brakes are WaaaaaaaaaY overkill, if you have turbo 1.6, then GTI-R ones should suit you perfectly

But can skyline brakes fit though, i'd have thought not as the discs would have been alot bigger so the mounting points would be at different angles

wheredya get turbo 1.6 from?

im having a turbo fitted to my 1.3 cg13de...

anyway...... over kill or not..... tarox make 12 pot callipers for the Skoda octavia VRS....and thats a diesel...lol now thats over kill.

yeah, i may just get some Pulsar or primera calipers.
dunno yet.
oooh and i have been told that the intercooler i have is from a RX7, so it should mount on top of the engine, (ala davey c)
this should work ok, but now im in a pickle as i havent got a turbo manifold. can the origonal one be turned upside down?.... if so i may have saved people alot of money...if not...im skint again...lol

thanks guys

Hmm, scan read the post, my mistake, skyline calipers will not fit without a ludacris amount of work, get GTi-R

dont quote me on this, all u guys saying the 1.6ones r over kill but i rememeber reading some where that jo/johns micra with gti-r brakes on they said they werent actually good enough at some points...so imo i would get the gti-r ones...nothing worse than when ur brakes dont stop ur car :) (well apart from hitting the brick wall)

There is a possibility that with the large 54mm bore AD22VF (RNN14 GTiR and possibly your N15 GTi) brakes the micra's standard master cylinder could not operate them properly. You know this is happeningwhen you hit the brakes and you feel a kickback through the pedal - this is the brake pads pushing away from the disc. This causes all sort of issues with ABS-fitted cars and also huuuge issues with brake reliability, responsiveness and also pedal feel.

I wouldn't be putting anything larger than the AD22VF brakes on ANY standard k11's master cylinder. (I dunno about you lot but here in Aus our Super S all had ABS and scored a larger master cylinder than the vanilla models).

Even then the ABS micras tend to have fairly shocking pedal feel. But thats something else all together I think.

^^ Correct

John/Jo bought Wilwoods due to fade of the GTi-R units on a trackday, a stripped car will have more than enough stopping power with the GTi-R unitson a track

Need to remember that the extra weight of larger discs, pads and calipers will effect the steering.
Mine was noticeable at the start with the 1.6 brakes, going too large would definatly effect it more.

Whats wrong with having overkill brakes? Surely you'd just stop sooner than GTIR ones!??

Nothing wring with it, rather know I had ability to stop better than norma but stopping to hard/fast can be dangerous for cars behind as they may underestimate the stopping power you have

Any front brake calipers can be made to fit a k11. Just need the caliper holder to be made correctly so it can sit on the hub nicely. These guys are just saying that its not worth the effort as the ga16 are more then sufficient, Skyline calipers can be fitted on a k11 but it will be alot of work to do so, and will be a waste of money.

what would be worth it is making rear caliper holders for a k11 hub and having rear brake discs now thats a worthwhile mod. Maybe fitting ga16 rear calipers they are commonly available. If still you are not happy, upgrade the hoses for braided stuff, upgrade to dot 5.1 brake fluid. You could change the master cyclinder for a ga16 or p10 one. But its a lot of work!!

lol, ok guys thank you very much, i may just get some GTir calipers... if i can find any..lol some red dot pads and disks should be enough..

thanks guys

What is wrong with overkill brakes is that the larger rotors will slow your acceleration down and you are likely to lock the brakes up every time you stop harshly.
WMM do arear brake bracket, but they never got back to me about it, I am guessing that it cannot be very hard to make, what worried me was where the wheel would sit with the drum removed...

couldn't it be bad if the disk/pad doesn't get upto a decent working tempterature with things like red stuff pads as well?

yeah, my colleague had some green stuff pads in his mini, he would frequently have to run arround with his foot on the brake just to get them to work...

a bit extreme me thinks

I have been told that they re around 50 quid, not sure if that is VAT inclusinve or not, if you get some, let us know as I have been trying to track some down for ages :)
