sandblasting rubber exterior trim

Hey guys. As the subject goes, is there anything I should be wary of? Like putting crater holes in the rubber? I have taken all my window trims off and dropped the glass of to a tint guy to clean and retint my glass. Meanwhile the trim has overspray where I messed up the taping (lesson learned, next the next doors I do will be entirely stripped out). I could go at it for hours with the wax and grease remover but this is tough paint...

Yay or nay on the sandblasting idea?

frank2,

I'm going to use satin black bumper spray in a can on the hard plastics, but I don't think I should paint the softer window trim, as when it flexes and changes size in the hot and cold it would surely crack?

I decided not to sandblast any of it, I used thinners and a rough cloth, a thin miniature model steel file and a retractable sharpie knife; plus lots and lots of patience.

after around 4 hours for all the cars trim, I've managed to remove all the paint and primer and have washed them with some soapy water, then rinsed them.

They're fanning dry right now, once they dry I'll give the really flexy stuff a coat of meguires black restorer (will just have to reapply each time I wash the car).

I'll respray the black exterior lower window trim (hard plastic bits) with some black bumper spray shortly.

I'll be sure to update my daily micra build thread with some pics of the car once it's all refitted tomorrow.

For a backyard job it ain't bad, but it sure isn't winning any car show awards haha...
