number plate lights

hi,
has anyone replaced the ugly rear plate lights with light bolts? is access from behind ok?

Dead easy to do, when you remove panel inside bootlid this is what you have,

Thats boot up so odd angle
How it looks after its de-nippled...

And at night....

If you look at photo inside boot lid you can see on the left the aluminium gauze mesh and fibreglass filler applied to the INSIDE. Then its a skim of bodyfiller on the outside

got me lighting bolts, just need some dry weather.
mine are black so should blend in.
what size holes are left? think i'm going to weld mine up.

As you can see from this photo, 3 holes are left each side. Top and bottom are approx 5mm and middle hole circa 25mm

Whats actually lighting the plate up because I see the lights alright but cant find anything like that?
