Now I don't have drive !

The story so far :

Replaced the auto box of my 2000 K11 a month or so ago as it was noisy and grated when put into gear.
All went well with the replacement except that the Ncvt light would come on about a minute after driving off.
Also drive selection was as difficult as before.

Much help on this forum helped me analyse the light problem as " Battery supply fault or memory back-up fault"
but no amount of memory resetting procedures solved the Ncvt light problem and the difficulty engaging drive
persisted.

I now have no drive in forward or reverse and the Ncvt light stays on all the time.
Can anybody please offer some advice !

Tried the car yesterday and everything worked perfectly (the Ncvt light came on as per usual), but when my wife used
it, she got stranded.
I replaced the brushes, but still no go.
Tried again today and was able to drive home. Now Ncvt light flashes intermittently but we are too scared to drive the car
in case it lets us down.
May be time to call the AA man ?

Everything is adjusted correctly yeah? as there's a few different items that all need setting up. That may account for no drive, if the cables are making the box / ecu think you're somewhere between the two gears.

It's a similar intermittent fault i had, and i eventually started think maybe the clutch powder had worn down / away too much. The car would drive ok or go into no acceleration until too many revs and then it'd take off or its third trick was to refuse to go anywhere at all.

I never fixed the fault though as it wasn't my car i couldn't really spend ages fiddling with it.

I assume you're using the same clutch as before? (didn't switch it out with one from replacement gearbox) and i'm assuming these are new issues since switching the gearbox...i think the only other thing maybe the v belt system in the gearbox being worn?.

I'm very limited on auto box's though. Even the haynes refuses to help re intermittent drive issues...advising instead to hand over money to a "specialist". :(

Thanks Solarice.

It's intermittent in that one day everything is ok, and next - nothing. Only clue when she won't drive is that the Ncvt light stays on.
Changing the brush assembly back to the original from the old gearbox brought a fresh part to the puzzle - instead of the light coming on after
a minute of driving away, it now flashes three times every now and then !

I'm beginning to think there may be a loose connection somewhere or that I should check the battery to gearbox earth connections ?

We used the clutch that came with the second gearbox.

Waiting for weather to clear before getting out there (or getting mr AA man to have a look)

Ah right, the one i drove you never got a full day out of it...Yeah you might just have a loose connection, that would be the ideal. :D

Tbh i'd probably start at one end and assume everything is the issue, afterwards at least you know all the connections etc should be 100% good even if it doesn't help fix it. :)
