My micra K11 has developed a fault. Sometimes it starts ok, other times when you turn the key to start, car turns over but does not fire, if I continue to crank it , it will eventually start. Whilst turning it over, there is a lot of clunking coming from under the bonnet as if there is something wrong with the timing ?

Clunking doesn't sound good. Otherwise I would check the injectors and the main earth strap first.
