Hello I'm a new member from the UK...I hope someone can help me!!! My Micra K11 1.0L 1995/6 (N reg.) has developed an intermittant engine misfire, can anyone help??
It happens usually after 20mins. or more running and then develops a serious misfire after running perfectly. I have carried out a few minor checks/repairs but am now at a loss, the actions I have so far undertaken are-
Check/clean plugs
Check all visible connections/multiplugs
Check injection fuse & clean contacts (very corroded)
Change fuel filter- which was full of very dirty fuel
Change air filter-which seemed to cure problem in the short term

I am considering the throttle body solder repair next but am a little reluctant as the misfire is so random.
I am also suspecting fuel contamination but again this doesn't really add up as the misfire is not always apparent.
Any help gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation sandramicra.

I am thinking of going to the plug leads/distributor cap/rotor arm but a fault with any of these would surely show up as a constant misfire, even if only after the engine is warmed....this one is so random & can clear as quickly as it appears. It seems like a total power failure for a second, then it may or may not clear itself. The car has yet to completely stop but I fear it's just a matter of time. Still not clear if it is fuel or electrical related!!

Thanks for the swift responses...great website!!

i would only suspect a lead or cap etc if it was a 1 cyl missfire personally, more likely a component inside the dizzy or else a dodgy connection somewhere imo (mine would lose the spark if the ecu plug was disturbed)

Yep, it's been a great little car for 12 months but just started a new job so as soon as I actually need to use it for long(ish) commute rather than a local trip to old job...it's trying to let me down!!!!
In some ways I wish it would fail completely then maybe we could fault-find!!! Trouble is the car ain't worth large garage bills...diagnostics etc. that may not even find problem, so just looking for some tips...I will certainly check ECU connector tomorrrow.
