Hi everyone, I am close to owning my first Micra.

There is a steering vibration that increases from very slight at 60kph, to the "wheels are going to fall off" at 100-110kph. (already read some posts on the topic)

I have it overnight for my mechanic to look at tomorrow, or myself if he's not free. Assuming the problem is identified and reasonable fix determined, I should pay for it tomorrow night.

Over a year ago I was with my friend who bought the white supercharged K11 reviewed here as the "White Knight". That was neat, shame to see it go.

I look forward to maintaining a stock-ish Micra :)

I'm about to make the payment, I've left the car at my parents place (who live near our mechanic friend) and there are some things I'll be doing, and some things I'll ask him and his outsourced specialists to do, like CV boots, because I've done them, but I'm not quick nor good, and they're messy.

I checked the car over for a few hours, rear to front jacking up both sides. It looks like it is genuine for its age 1996 and 116,000km. Not too messed with by a previous ricer owner who stickered it, not too neglected by the previous female owner.

I get my kicks with motorcycles, and mostly commute on them too, so my car is usually a wet weather and extreme heat driver. The Micra has aircon which was essential feature.

I would also use the car for highway 110-120kph drives within 600km radius here in the south west corner, so I'll be looking to some minor tweaking to get the most out of the stock setup, after it is restored to good running order.

I look forward to trauling the posts here for the typical exhaust and intake threads ;) Off to lighten my wallet.

I couldn't get the wheels off to swap front to rear, nuts overtorqued and studs rusty my guess. The tyres are Duran brand, a friend said Indonesian, not retreads, but I couldn't see any obvious problems underneath, and wheels are not wobbling on the hub.

It has been a smoker's car at some point, so I'll be removing rear seats, dash mat and the like, clean it up. The body is straight and the people who have seen it so far think it will scrub up nicely with some TLC.

I think it is the closest I'll get to owning a red Rover Mini Cooper S :)
