hi im tacha, im 21 and live near brighton.

im new to micras so please bare with my ignorance.

how i came to be a micra owner is a strange one;

ive always liked mk1 micras dunno why they jus appealed to me, but i never brought one.

i currently have a mk 4 escort cabriolet, 2wd saph cos and now my little mk1 facelift micra.

i didnt plan to get my micra but my cab;following an engine conversion has got an electrical fault so she isnt running. and at present the cossies having a engine rebuild.

after not having a car for 6 months and getting frustrated my mums bf offered me this micra. liking them i jumped at the chance.

want to modify it abit, nothing stupid jus respray wheels etc. my bfs a sprayer so it wont cost more than a hug.

before u misjudge me i am a jap fan despite the ford vasarde, ive had 3 crx's (mk2). 2 colt mirages (cjo) and a suzuki ignis sport.

anyways any help will be much appreciated

Welcome, I do like the Escort Cabs, i've got a MKII Orion with RS Turbo lump, Whats exactly up with the Cab??

Post a few pics of your Micra, the MK1 micra is referred to as the K10.

long winded sorry...

basically the previous owner put too thinner oil in the car, so started getting tappety noises and wasnt running right, so i went to investigate. 2 of the lifters were jamed in and i couldnt lift them out, when i removed them the bottoms were bevelled and they had rounded the lobes on the camshaft. so i put new oil, new lifter, new cam and within a week it had dome the same thing, then as we pulled up to our mates workshop i noticed water leaking from the manifold, headgasket? checked it was fine no murciness no coffee and the cars temp had never risen above normal. by the time we got home, 45 mins later the head gasket had blown completely and there was coffee everywhere.

great I thought and cursed as i have done evr since i bought the thing. has had nothing but problems.

anyways instead of having the head skimmed etc we decided to put the engine out of our smashed up XR2i. its EFi with ported and polished head, fast road cam etc, chipped ECU.

so we ripped out the MFi wiring from my cab and replaced it with a 90 spec EFi escort loom and fitted then engine. simple.

The car wont start.
theres fuel getting to the rail but the injectors arent pulsing.
the fuel pump wont prime without a permanent live.

weve changed ECU's, edis moduels, relays everything with no change. weve tried to hook it up to a snap on diagnostic and a cheap ford one but none of them will give a signal.l

so shes not running. hence i now have the micra so i dont hav to rush sorting the cab and if it dont get started in 6 months ill jus put in a RST lump its MFi CVH so shouldnt cause as many problems.

wont give up on her tho, i got her in may last year and she hasnt been driven since september but already its had a new gearbox, new engine, new starter motor, new breaks, new hood, full white leather interior and a respray in cossie moonstone blue.

horshams not far from me at all, im actually in worthing but people never know where it is. hence why i out near brighton.

Well I have a MFI 1.6 CVH engine laying around doing jack, along with metering unit. If thats any use?

I've heard the EFI can be a real pain, have you wired the loom into the ignition? Have you checked the fuel pump relay??

would be ideal but the MFi loom has been butchered. and ive got 4 metering units at home along with plenum chambers and manifolds lol.

changed the fuel pump relay and still no luck.

if the chassis was strong enough id chuck in the spare cos engine we got but then id still need a cos ECU and Loom £££££££££££££

There's not really much of the MFI loom is there. I've left my original loom in the orion and spliced into it with the RS Turbo loom. It was running fine until the Distributor went spazzy!!!

Well my engine is sitting around doing didly squat, with 89,000 miles on the clock, ran sweet as a nut before the turbo lump went in.

Would like to see pictures of all Cars, Brightons not a million miles from me either, I'm on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent

SOZ BOUT PIC SIZE!!!!!!!!1

can someone tell me how to make them smaller please

Welcome to the club, I must admit, I love 80s Fords (as Ollie knows! lol) and those are awesome!

Southern members rule! ;)

the cossie will be running 400bhp once the blocks been wire rung. its a t34 turbo.

your orion is lovely, love the mk1 aswell. think its mk1 isnt it?

few of our mates have got old fords, 2 have olg grannies with hydraulics going in and the other has a mk2 v8 turb'd escort van which is insane another mate of my bf has a mk1 cortina which is gorgeous

Yes thats my mates MK 1 Orion, his is only a 1.6 though....for the moment anyway!!! Am tempted to build a 1.8 ZVH (Zetec/CVH Hybrid) engine. Got all the bits laying around. I have mates with a Series 1 RS Turbo, a MK IV Cossie, a MkIII RS 1600i, a Series 2 RS Turbo, a Fiesta XR2i and a ford Anglia!!

The cossies are awesome!!! Love that one!!!

What about pics of the K10 micra??

she hasnt made her maiden voyage from dorset yet am collecting her on sat,
its only a 1 litre 4 gears , 4 door lol but shes got 12 months mot,5 months tax, brand new tyres and exhaust so at the extorsionate price of FREE in happy

gonna need serious modifying lol

any tips ?

tempting, weld in a sierra floor pan, cossie lump, and runnigngear hmmmm cossie powered rwd micra wooop go me, imagine the look on a evos face as it gets done by a "1 litre micra" lol

Arnold above is fitting a 2 Litre 4wd engine, basically a Pulsar without the Turbo.

yes create the Micra Cosworth!!!

What type of things would you want to do to the K10?? Fitting the 1.2 engine, webber carb, 4-1 or 4-2-1 manifold, custom inlet manifold, and a better exhaust system would improve it some what. That'll get you around the 90-100bhp mark.
