Gearbox removal

Anyone here remove there own gearbox from there micras before? Is it a pain or did it come out easy? My thrust bearing is making noise today (Well I hope its just that) and I have a new clutch kit waiting to go in but im not sure if I can do it myself.

Pretty easy, done 3 or 4 at work... A hoist helps but can still be done on the ground with out too much hassle

yeah it a pretty easy one, i changed mine on the ground with just a jack and some stands.

is ok... also did it on jacks.... make sure u line up everything and keep the dust plate plate otherwise u will swear a lot.

Did you guys get the flywheel re-surfaced before fitting the new clutch as I was told you should do so.

nope i didn't re-surface.
don't forget to catch the gearoil first, before you pull the driveshafts

....replaced flywheel... but previously yes

the dust plate is probably known by something else like a bell housing cover?
