fuel gauge faulty

my fuel gauge has been playin up
when its full it goes above the full line and when its empty it says it still has 1/4 tank left is there anyway i can reset the gauge?

you can pull the needle off and refit it lower, but its not really adressing the fault tho eh ?

mine is completely not working......havent got time to t-shoot it yet...but ill start from directly connecting it to pwr supply...if it works then its either loose connection or sender unit is dead....
