Fuel & Fuel economy

On New years eve I filled up my K12 at our local Tesco. Ashford Kent, & on New years day I drove up to Prestwich Manchester where I filled up again, Esso, & the trip computer was telling me I 28 miles left in the tank, gauge needle well into red.
The next day, 2nd Jan I drove back to Kent, same route, same load, same weather no wind, same sort of driving, at about the same speed & journey time.

In both cases I had not reset the trip computer!

But on arrival home it tells me I have 118 miles left in the tank!! Gauge needle showing over a 1/4 of a tank of fuel.
Even allowing for the extra 10 miles I travelled from Tesco to home on New Years eve that is one hell of a difference in fuel quality!

Besides the usual puns about uphill to Manchester & downhill coming back the figures make a mockery of so called "Cheap Fuel"
