Very Poor fuel economy...

Ok so my Micra is finally repaired... ended up a 500 pounds repair bill fwn

But new trouble comes, the fuel economy is really not satisfactory,
on motorway it could only achieve 43mpg with constant 60mph,
but on city drive, just around 30mpg... a.k.a. 17p a mile for a 1000cc car!!!

Which even worse than my Tigra 1.6 !!!

I didn't do any service on this micra yet,
coz the previous Indian owner claimed that the car can servive for a few k more miles before servicing.

But as you can see the fuel economy is totally unacceptable,
I'm now considering to have a service and see if oil and filter change can solve the problem...

Besides a service do you guys got any thought on this issue?
Which part of the engine I need to ask the garageman to look at?

Thanks

not to mock your diving style, my friend told me to slam it into 5th at 25mph and i will notice the difference, so i did and heyy fuel lasts longer (y)

Keep your tires inflated to the correct pressure all round and keep your brakes well maintained so that they do not bind. Regardless of what people say you should always keep your car regularly serviced and properly maintained. That fact that the previous owner gave you that bad advice to begin will tells you that he/she obviously did not look after the car properly.

Problem spotted.... both rear tyre and 1 front tyre was leaking, after i changed all 4 to news tyres, the fuel economy now become 43mpg
