Eninge Rattley/Noise when coming off the throttle

Hi

My Girlfriends Micra has started to make a horrible grinding/metallic noise coming from the engine bay when you remove your foot from the throttle. The noise only seems to occur when you are approaching traffic lights in or out of gear slowing down (no brakes) approaching for example traffic lights.

It's a 1 litre 1999 3 door, with 62,000 miles on the clock.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Does it sounds like bearings in the gearbox rasping kind of??

Sometimes I have a bit of a noise which to me at a guess sounds like bearings in the gearbox, but not sure. I think sometimes that noise is pretty normal. I have removed a large rubber grommet also that the ABS loom used to get into the engine bay, so now I am letting in a lot of engine bay sound directly under the glove box. Going to plug that up today and see if any improvement.
