Engine Compression

Well, i got bored so i tested the compression on the micra, following the procedure given in the haynes.

Results were:

1 - 210psi
2 - 205psi
3 - 210psi
4 - 210psi

Now the haynes says standard 13 bars / 190psi, minimum 11 bars / 160psi

Can somebody check in their nissan book to compare with haynes that 190/160 is correct?

Motor has done 147K, checked records car still has orignal motor.

i think the likely explaination is that my compression tester is out of calibration, its just a push-on type,

Hmm if anything though, isn't it a good thing to be getting higher compression figures than the minimum etc. You would be very worried about lost compression. Perhaps you just have a tight, healthy motor, combined with a bit of a calbration issue etc.

Sounds like they are all about equal anyway, which is another good sign, if there was a problem, you would expect some variations between cylinders most likely..
