cvt transmission

hey everyone, just wondering if anyone can help me,i have a little 95 micra which i dearly love its been a fantastic car as micras are but iv got a problem with my transmission, it seems to be stuck in a gear which ive been told is limp mode, no one seems to be able to find the problem, one mechanic seems to think its something electrical in the tranny or the computer im just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem any advice would be very appreciated. thanks

Hey mate,
Yea mine did that also. Very common for the CVT to **** itself. Mine ended up getting a manual conversion

dam i was hoping it would be something simple, how much did it cost to get the conversion and what was involved?

If you handy and mechanically minded i can tell you where to get all the parts just have to do it urself. Approx part price $300 plus ur time

hey everyone thanks heapsfor the advice Ive taken it to my mechanic I so hope I can get her back on the road I miss her already ive only been without her for 3 days!

If the CVT light stays on try getting the fault code following the link above.

If the car seems stuck in gear, won't reverse etc. its probably the baulk ring jammed. We had a similar one and faced with the high prices of a replacement we had a go ourselves!

Take the gearbox out and take the inside casing (side that bolts to the engine) off.

On the end of the first motion shaft there is a brass baulk ring. You will probably find it stuck on. We used a plain screwdriver to pry them apart, put everything back together, tried it on the bench and it seemed to work.
When we refitted the box it all worked fine!
