cigarette lighter light

i have brought this lighter from halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_204179_langId_-1_categoryId_165479
there is a wire to wire the light up on it so i was going to wire it up to the sidelights. according to haynes the wire i need is a red/blue striped one so i tested it with a light tester but nothing happened. is this the right wire? if not which wire is right?

my car is a nissan micra 1999 facelift k11 inspiration

easiest way to check is look at the bulb holder wiring for the sidelights and see what colour it is
