brake lights

Hi,

need some help please.

GF's K10 has been back with me after having replacement gearbox and clutch a month ago. Just checking it over for the MOT and have found that the reversing lights no longer work. Replaced/tested bulbs and there ok.

Now 2 thoughts spring to mind, either the reverse switch in or around the gear lever is broken or disconnected, or a fuse has gone somewhere. The fusebox under the steering wheel has no blown fuses.

Now incidentley the fog lamp switch no longer works which makes me think it might not be the gearbox switch...

Any ideas or know where to look please? :k10:

Almost always is the gearbox switch, jump the pins on the connector to the gearbox and see if the reverse lights come on, if they do then its the gearbox.

thanks for the reply.

not sure where I'd be looking for though.....is it a box or something and presume its on the underside of the gearstick?

No its physically on the gearbox a lead that goes to the casing.

You can replace the switch but noone ever does cos it's not needed for the MOT
I topped up my gearbox oil and it fixed it
