right just got a jec amp and a 15 inch sub and me and my friend tried to wire it up but had no joy wot so eva any hints on how to wire them up please help

wrong section mate, need more details too
Check all the connections first such as power.
Where you've got the earth?
Check connections on the subs terminals.
Check amp connections, is everything tight?
What's the gain set to?
Have you checked the input stage of the amp, eg plugging a walkman or something into it?
Have you checked the phono lead you're using works.
Have you checked the output from your HU, ie does it need setting to output to the sub?
Let me know how you get on after that

to test the amp ...
take a short peice of cable (insulated be best) and bridge (make contact with the terminals) positive which is straight from the battery and the Remote (signal terminal beside positive + ground in most cases)
amp should turn on
if that works check your remote cable , as they are so thin they can become damged (even a slight nick could do it) when running it up the car
my old headunit remote output was faulty , splice into the yellow cable (on most HU's) the power one which the ignition turns on and off and this can be used for a remote output

As above.....and you need:
- Positive cable direct from battery (fused) to amp
- Short (<1m) negative cable from amp to car chassis
- Blue remote turn on lead (usually 'acc') from headunit to amp
- RCA (phono type) lead/s from headunit to amp
- Speaker cables from amp to speaker/s
- Positive cable direct from battery (fused) to amp

the REM output on my HU buggered too, took about £60 to repair it!
