Some time ago on my wife' K12 the airgag lite went on for mo particular reason 
She went to a service point and was quoted 750€ for a new airbag
As I found it at least pretty suspect that the airbag itself would fail from itself, I started some investigation.
I took all that stuff appart and measured all out. Everything seemed fine, including the spiral cable that connects the airbag to the fixed wiring under the steering wheel. I know they were prone to failure on the old BMW's.
I reassembled everything and resetted the light as explained in the Maintenance Manual.
Since two weeks this seems to have solved the problem.
Better than 750€ isn't it :laugh:
