Are K10 Clutch kits - generally available in UK, easy to fit by amateur with good tool-box - are any specialst tools or skills needed ? Rod

    K10 Clutch/gearbox problem

Cisco, Thanks for reply, - no can't hearing anything really nasty like the metal grinding etc., - from what you say my best hope is that it may be a cable problem ? But do the clutches need replacing every now and then - I don't have a history of being "hard on them". Live in Crete ( Greek...

    K10 Clutch/gearbox problem

My K10 has had a "fragile" clutch ( crunching, stuttering, grinding )sorted out tempoarily by adjustment of cable. Now I suddenly cannot engage any gear with gearstick from neutral with engine running. The stick seems to move okay when engine not running. What has happened, and what is my best...

steering feels heavier than it used to at low speed

Thanks for feedback This car does not have power steering, - and the problem is getting worse. Probable it is one of the things listed in my initial post, - but feel this is a problem that someone might recognise as one of the "usual suspects". I checked the tyre pressures soon as noticed the...

steering feels heavier than it used to at low speed

I put this one up for comment a while ago, but no-one really got too inspired by my problem. Having generally searched the internet for clues/advice seems to come up with: "binding in steering linkage", "Steering box or rack" up the creek, or even just "wheels out of alignment" - guess I...

    K10 Steering "HEAVY BABY " !

nz_aj, - Hey thanks for your interest ! POWER STEERING ? Certainly not - I'm just worried about having no steering at all. HOWEVER, - the fault seems to have rectified itself - maybe I curbed it at the same place next day and sorted things. BUT I am surprised no-one else had any ideas, maybe...

    K10 Steering "HEAVY BABY " !

Guys, The steering on my Micra K10 has suddnely got a bit heavy, as if a tyre is a bit flat - BUT, that ain't the problem. An initial inspection shows nothing more than a split gaiter on one side. What have I done, gentlemen ? Ideas please .... please ? Rod.

Need to fill gearbox oil on Micra 1.2 1996

knieval, cisco, toma, micra-man, - many thanks gentlemen - mission accomplished. The definitive way to fill gearbox on a K10 is to remove the speedo cable assembly. Cable pulls out no trouble after a spanner undoes the "sleeve". The "housing" then easily releases with a socket on the one...

Need to fill gearbox oil on Micra 1.2 1996

Cisco, Ooh, you got me there Cisco. Thanks for your reply by the way. I'm on the Greek island of Crete, and the car was first registered here - the owner's manual only tells me it's a Micra 1.2 and says the engine is an MA12. The car is new to me, and haven't studied the registration "plate"...

Need to fill gearbox oil on Micra 1.2 1996

Toma, I'm not sure where you mean by the "oil-cap" - surely not the little thing on top of the gearbox like a pimple that comes off if you try hard enough ? The only Oil Cap on this engine is the engine-oil ( sump oil ) one. As you have been kind enough to answer though, let me allow you...

Need to fill gearbox oil on Micra 1.2 1996

Cannot find anywhere to fill the gearbox oil on this model. Your "changing gearbox oil" article says there is a plug similar to the drain-plug towards front of gearbox - not so on my engine. Can I "release" the speedo cable assembly that appears to be held on the top of gearbox by one screw...
