I can vouch for that, had to remove the whole bloody dashboard. Then it turned out the previous owner had done the same thing as it had a brand new heater matrix. The problem was my head gasket.

Mines just under half way round as well now, but definitely bubbling. You can hear it from the drivers seat when you turn the engine off just bubbling away.

Right, it seems I've cured the overheating problem, by doing everything mentioned on here and more. The temperature is stable once more, but the expansion tank still bubbles after a drive, but its not overflowing now. Does anyone else's expansion tank bubble?

PMSL, my nails aren't really that hard, I think that might be overkill. I think my real problem was that my nail clippers came from an xmas cracker. They lasted quite a while though.
