    First Car =o)

Hello Shay. Nice to hear from you. What part of Ireland do you live in? I'm living in Boyle. Co. Roscommon. I own a 1996 1.0L Micra. The 1.3 Micra is a Rocket. Good car. You can get Haynes Manual reasonably enough in Halfords Sligo. Alternatively a lot of Automotive factors stock them. I've...

    'Fumes' in Cabin

Hello Guys. Haven't posted in a while. Could somebody tell me how to troubleshoot the Crankcase Ventilation system on the Micra. It is obviously venting to atmosphere, as when car is stopped with Heater fan on and outside ventilation chosen, there is a heavy smell of half burnt hydrocarbon...

    Clatter at idle

Thanks Guys. It really is looking like the Input shaft of the transmission. Probably won't do any harm though. Was thinking of bringing up the idle speed to mask symptoms, as it only happens at a very slow idle speed. Nyacka, Nyacka, Nyacka, Nyacka, etc. Also will be giving car to my Dad, and I...

    Clatter at idle

Hello Guys. Wonder if you can help. My 1996 Micra makes wonderful diesel clattering noises from transmission/clutch area when warm and with an electrical load. This is only at idle, it disappears with revs above idle. Also disappears anyway when clutch is engaged. Also some kind of whirring...

    Wipers. squeeeeeeeeak!

Found cure for the squeaking wipers. Remove cowl. Remove cover over wiper motor recirculating part on l.h. side of car, ie first part from the motor. At this point it should be possible to give a good squirt of thick oil or grease onto all moving parts including plastic bushings. What happens is...

    K11 Fan heater/blower switch

You can actually fix these. At the second Resistor track ie between pins 2 and 4 corrosion usually sets in. If this is not badly corroded, judicious use of a soldering iron usually bridges this if you can clean it to metal for solder to stick. I know this is a mess, but it's the third time to do...

    reverse light

Yeah it's definitely the reversing light switch. You may get away with welding a small piece onto the contact, but they invariably fail. In Ireland - euro 50. Think you have to stop gearbox oil from escaping while replacing. Regards. Tom Scanlon. Beautiful sunny Ireland. Looking forward to...

    squish squish, whirr whirr!!!!

Hi again. Anybody got a diagram as to how to remove the Heater Fan Motor. I had some papers and stuff in glovebox compartment, which was full up and they tipped out the back over the fan. Very noisy now, piece of paper obviously stuck in blades. Tom

    squish squish, whirr whirr!!!!

Oh, also, anybody got a cure for the ubiquitous squeaky, chattering, squealing, all dancing right hand wiper blade. Blades are brand new, makes no difference. Just had new glass installed so that's not the problem. Could it be angle of wiper arm or something?

    squish squish, whirr whirr!!!!

Thanks Yom. I'll keep you posted. Still can't ascertain whether it is noise in the Alternator Bearings, or the throwout bearing. You wouldn't believe how similiar the noises are. Think I'll get some kind of stethoscope and hammer down where it's coming from. Hope I can sort it out cheaply as I...

    squish squish, whirr whirr!!!!

Hello Guys, haven't posted in a while. Welcome from the land of Saints, Scholars, and assorted Lunatics (IRE). Does anybody know of the origin of a nasty squishy noise made when the nearside left shock compresses/decompresses. Makes a sound like soaked soft rubber or something. I'm also...

    Nissan Micra 1996 Cooling Problem

Hello all in Micra Land. Does anybody know whether the Kll has problems with the ECT Sensor, or an ECU Driver Problem? My Cooling fan does not come on with temperature rise and all is well with the fan motor and relay. Any ideas, and also where is the ECT Sensor located? Regards, Tom.
