My 1998 Micra cost me £550 with about 136K on the clock :(. Cars are just more expensive down here...
My insurance was £760 (black box) which isn't too bad. Would have been £880 for the 1.3 (I was going to buy my friends black 1.3 but I literally had no money at the time grr)
Get the 1.3 if you can. They're harder to come by though.
Watch out for rust on Micra's. Usually the sills rot out so check them when buying.
£500 is quite a tight budget.
Just ignore the fuel gauge. It's all over the place.
Use the trip instead.
I get 100 miles out of £20 at which point the fuel gauge usually ends up at the last white line which is when I put fuel in.
I can't get the offside brake light and fog light to work :(.
The fog light comes up on the dash but doesn't work. I've tried swapping the bulbs over but no luck. The side light works but not the brake filament.
I've tried spraying the wires with WD40 and tried wiggling them.
The fog light...
Really? Bummer. Oh well it's done now.
While i'm here. Is it easy enough to get the door covers off? The speaker connections are a bit lose and can go off sometimes while driving. I want to replace the speakers but they have to be around the same size as the originals as I can't have visible...
Found it today. Unhooked itself and was dangling down. Don't really need to remove the battery, was quite easy to reach. Y
Yeah the rivet didn't break although it does seem slightly dodgy. The cables broke inside at the the other of the cable.
