Whiney Gearbox

Yeah, i drove my friends K11 round last night. We both have about 50k miles on the clock, and I noticed his car sounds a lot smoother, but the main thing we agreed on was, my gearbox whines a hell of a lot, whereas his doesn't at all really.

What could this be a sign of?

Mine does the same. I thought about gearbox oil, but when I looked in the Haynes manual to see how to do it I thought b****r that! lol

I dunno when it was last changed. I will be doing it when I do my 10,000 mile service in a month or 2.
