What's that button do?

Newbie with a K10, Micra 1.0 LS. There's a small black button next to where the ignition key goes in.

What does it do?

does it have an aftermarket alarm it could be for that

you press it to remove the key from the ignition switch. Yours might be broken if you dont have to press it to remove the key........

Right, thanks! I think it's way beyond broken, I can take the key out in any position, including the engine being running... it does stick in and pop out when the key is turned...

Just a worn barrel i can start mine and take the key out, great for letting it warm up on a cold morning.

good news for my barrel then i can only take it out after the button being pressed in... suppose its the only thing the previous owners haven't destroyed lol
