Types of starter motor

Hi all! Well, the hovercraft is now painted and ive just dropped in the k10 engine......however, the starter motor ive bought seems to be too long! Does anyone know if there are different types of starter or are they all standard size etc??

too long? I havnt had to deal with the starter motors on mine so never had to have a look at them so I dont really know, but all the k10 gearbox's are the same (except for the auto) so should all have the same starter motor. The auto starter motor is completly different so i guess you havnt got one of them. Even though the early k11 box fits, it might use a different starter motor so are you sure its a k10 one?

Apparently there 4 different manufactures of starter motor, the main problem is that the starter motor rubs very slightly against the drive belt! Apparently denso make a long thin starter!
