Standard Micra K10 rev counter?

I bought my first K10 yesterday after many years of wanting one. I was after a three door, but it came in five, but it doesn't bother me, I got it for very cheapness with MOT and tax.

It's a Micra 1.2 SLX and it comes with a rev counter - are these quite rare, my mate said he'd never seen one before, and I thought it was strange having one in a car with such a small engine. My 1.4 Sunny N13 doesn't even have one (or even came with one, apart from the coupe). The digital clock is located on the centre console in front of the gearstick.

Mine neither:

Recently took out the seats/carpet/etc etc to wet vac, etc and found all the loom was present for the centre digital clock and dashboard (not spliced). Also, lot of 'factory' dust, so if it was 'transplanted', it wasn't recent. Is it possible these were an option on the SLX or the loom is already there in all cars? It has remote boot release, central locking, etc. as well.
