Oil spec 505.01

I have some Lidl W5 part synthetic 10w40 505.01spec engine oil, would that be suitable for my 2002 1 litre getting normal road use? My mechanic recommends 504 spec, looking up the 505.01 it says for diesel. Thanks

I always ran mine on semi and then at 90k switched to fully synthetic.. runs much better now

Ok, an update, I find Opie Oils seem to include a 505.01 spec oil as one of the ones suitable for a Micra. Cool enough, though I realise there are better oils available too.

I've used lidl oil for the past year and a half, won't do any harm. Micras will run forever even if they are abused to the last

That's good to know. How about filters, what do you like and where do you get them? A lad working on a pretty rusty Figaro in my local garage said something about if they had old tech engines in a modern body it would be the best of both worlds.

Whatever filter was in the motor factors, the last one I fitted was I believe blue print. Micras will run forever even if they're only half looked after
