New Micra Man

Hi Guys, Joe here looking to get my first project car!

Never been a car guy really but started watching lots of project car videos and want to have a proper go at it.

I want to buy my first Micra and wondering if I could get some advice on what’s best to look for, how much I should spend on one etc.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You could probably get a Micra from £200 - £600.
Might want to look out for corrosion underneath the car and around the sills.

Among many other things, I'd look for one that's had frequent oil changes to minimise the risk of timing chain issues.

Rust bodge and such is the usual issues
Maintenance timing chains arnt really a issue on them
Oil changes easy way is to open the oil cap and have a look, put your finger in and rub the bottom inside of the rocker cover, and pull the stick and if it smell petrolly wants doing,
I change the oil a hundred o such miles after getting one, depends on how bad or how close to a whole number ,
Paper work can mean little
Got ones with tons and you laugh when you see the car it's on lol,

Cheap doesn't mean bad, same for short test , millage mean little to none
Not check via DVLA can help
But let the car talk for its self,

Sills innner and outer, rear bits of floor and such
Pull the rear carpet and inner arch carpet back if there's rust of bubbling with rust
Underseal can hide bodges or rot , to me normally a undersealed car is worth less due to the potential issues,
Inner driver wing, crossmember ,

Just some bad example to show what and where they can go,
Surface rust is a easy fix with some tools on a drive or such ,
Also can be repaired easy enough worse
