Motor running with key removed

Hi,
I happend to buy a K10 this week. I did'nt plan for it...

This is my first post here and my question is if it's normal to be able to take the key out from the ignition and the motor still running and the car fully operable? I think it's not, but you guys surely knows better than me. =)

It's a 1987 K10, GL-version.
And; for those who's interested - the car and I are located in Sweden.

Mines always done it
It's awesome on a frosty morning as I start her up, lock her up and leave her to warm up while I have a cheeky coffee and she's good to go xx

Nice, I was somewhat afraid the steering wheel lock would be activated suddenly, when I would rather consider this as a feature! =)

I've taken it down the road with no keys in just fine but ive not done much of a distance x

I'll just have to make sure I do not forget the key at home and drive off...
