Low coolant post cambelt/water pump change

Had a mechanic change the cambelt, tensioner, water pump and rocker cover gasket (had a bit of an oil leak). Not pleased as got home and found the coolant way low, below the minimum marker. Engine also seems to sound more "tappety", used to be extremely quiet. Would you normally lose coolant during a cam belt/water pump change? Any clue why engine would sound a bit noisier? Whatever, bloody annoyed he was too useless to even spot it was low. ###### it, will use Ed in future, tired of London blimming monkey mechanics. :glare:

Might be a tooth out?
Yep you lose some coolant when removing the pump but even a retard would know to top the coolant back up
