my sister has fallen in love with a micra thats for sale at the gold coast.

She is working full time over the holidays and if it's still there in 2 weeks she is going to go and have a look at it I think :)

I dont know who is more excited, me or her :p

Come on eM get your sister to buy. We need more female members and its great to see the female sex interested in their cars and doing them up in their own way.
Men do blokey things to their cars, women well add a more personal touch.

Hehe, peer pressure isn’t nice… it can make people do crazy things like spend all their life savings on a Micra. :)

Lol, yeah I’m Lucky I live with Em and close by to Matty coz I’m ‘car-retarded’ at this point in time. Now I just have to get enough guts to spend all my money... mmm buying a car is scary and expensive.

And no, I don’t know how many chicks there are coz I just joined, hehe :p

Yes get Matty to go along as he is Micra "experienced"
I would also get the RACQ to do a check. Might cost say $150 but cheap insurnace if you are going to spend thousands.
Your call but if you want to take the plunge get Matty to have a look and if he is happy get the RACQ to do a full inspection.That way you will sleep a lot easier.

My Micra has been sold... and not to me. I rang the guy yesterday coz I was going to have a look today and he told me he had already sold it. How sad!

Looks like I’m back to where I started. I’m looking for an automatic SLX, around the $6000 price range, and in the Brissie/Gold Coast area. If anyone finds something that kinda fits that profile please let me know!

Funny, I just did a full search today for Micras.

NISSAN MICRA 1995 model, excellent condition, 5 door hatch, electric blue, aircond, safety cert, CD player, drives well, cheap to run- $4,800 (07)38822015, (0422)818583, BRAY PARK.

IN NSW:

Nissan Micra 1996 auto Beautiful little car, ideal first car/Mums runabout, $5000, ZGD-250 CAMPBELLTOWN 0407-87 1125.

I just searched ALL the online car traders and brought up nothing else.... I mean, there are others advertised in various places but too far to travel.

...that electric blue paint is v nice. the auto's are kewl, my dad has one (on his second one, first one was written off by a truck tyre) my first time driving one - it was different, but nice different :p. very smooth to drive esp with the power steering - kept going to push in the clutch whenever the revs got up..heh tehy sound abit like um say an electric car, can't say i've ever been in an electric car but they made this 50% spaceship, 50%electric hummm noise :D. fyi he hasn't any any problems with the transmission, but if you do its usually the kickdown cable, which i think causes it to get stuck in low gear??? = cheap fix and if anthing else goes wrong get another gearbox from a wrecker - their far too costly to fix,

Be very careful with cvt model micras, have it checked out by an auto specialist. They are well know for playing up and if its needs to be repair (i.e usually bearings) of the six bearings only two are made after market and the others nissan dosen't keep. Owe and a new box cost around $6000.
They are expensive to service aswell. They also don't handle increased horse power very well, bear this in mind if you plan to modify the engine.
I don't want to scare you off a cvt, but I have had a few apart & if you could see what was inside you would understand the problems you can encounter

I'm going to have a look at the car tomorrow around 9am. I'm taking my crew of car experts; Em, Matty and Keiran.
I don't know what to expect. I'm excited tho, kinda scared. YAY!I might find my car tomorrow =]

Snoopy brings up alot of good points. There's alot of stuff which can go bang in the CVT transmissions.

Ideally I think a manual is a better long term option than ANY auto, but thats just me.

I think if the CVT isnt loud and doesnt make bad noise, is smooth and has been looked after it is still a pretty solid power tranfer device.

Just keep in mind that you can get second hand CVT gearboxes with apparently low KM imported on the cheap. Same with the motors. Half the time it is easier to just risk buying a secon dhand import motor/gearbox in the hope that it will have less problems than your existing unit...
