lighted heater controls?

Should the heater controls on my 1999 Micra SE be illuminated when the normal car lights are on? If they should be working, any ideas on how to fix this?

Well I think they are on my 98 prefacelift. Maybe change the bulbs and fuse if there is one?

yes they should, you need to remove the center trim off the dash, unbolt the heater matrix and undo the front panel so you can replace the bulbs.

you shouldn't need to touch the heater matrix, once you've taken the center trim off, four screws hold the heater unit in, with these removed, you should be able to access the bulbs behind the unit.

I've took the front dash piece off,removed the 4 screws holding the heater matrix and i'm stuck.

I cant physically see the back of the matrix,can only see the right side,bottom and top:

TOP

BOTTOM

Are the bulbs at the BACK of the matrix? I cant pull the matrix out as the dash is stopping it.

NEED URGENT HELP!
