I was having problems with excessive oil consumption on my 53 plate 1.2. On the overrun I was getting blue smoke out of the exhaust as well as erratic idling at times.
After eliminating the obvious problems I had a look at the PCV valve and found the by-pass hose had collapsed and was squashed flat! (see picture) This would mean that oil was being pushed past the oil seals due to poor engine breathing.
Been down to Nissan for a new pipe for £20 now the engine is idling better and no blue smoke!
