K11 Facelift Headlamp Glass Removal

Hi Guys and Gals,

I've seen that a few of you have removed the glass from the Headlamp and painted the surround, I've got my headlamps off recently and I can't get the glass off, how do you do it?

I think if you check modded's blog he says how to do it, but i think you have to heat them up in an oven or with a hairdryer, as theres a sticky glue strip that holds the glass on iirc.

put them in the oven to heat the mastic then slowly prise them apart

Oven, any idea what temperature?

low. I normally use about 100c for 5-10 mins.. checking regurly. be careful - its easy to wreck your headlights doing this but having said that ive done it 6 times or so with no problems

then get a flat blade when the glue is warm to prize the glass from off i chipped my glass so be careful! lol

Managed to use my heat gun at work, done a good job as well, let the modding begin. It's quite good that the sealant around the headlamp stays workable for uto 5 minutes after heating, might re-use it once I've finished.

yearh its re-useable, just heat it back up and stick the glass back on. then it will dry hard.
